Fire Extinguisher Training Programs

Training your employees the proper use of fire extinguishers is vital to a successful safety program. OSHA (Occupational Safety Health Administration) and fire codes require employers to train their employees on the selections and use of fire extinguishers at work. Safety Systems offers a variety of training programs that educate your employees on the proper use of fire extinguishers in the work place. Instructors are available to conduct classroom and/or hands-on training and fire fighting demonstrations with your employees. Contact a salesman to learn more.

Fire Extinguisher Types

Extinguishers are marked with pictograms depicting the types of fires that the extinguisher is designed to fight. In the past, extinguishers were marked with colored geometric symbols, and some still use both.

The typical steps for operating a stored pressure fire extinguisher (described by the acronym "PASS) are the following:

P – Pull the safety pin.

A – Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, from a safe distance (4 – 10 feet away).

S – Squeeze the handle.
